Final post...a question need to be answered.

What I like about blogging.

I think i have answered this question in previous post, but nevermind, since i like writing very much, i'll aswer it. Blogging for me is a very good activity to do because it is same as writing a diary which i dont even have one. The only different in blogging is we do it online, and others can read what we write. it is good, so that, we can openly critics and give oppinion so that it help me or others improve in what we are lack of.

2. What Ido not like about blogging.

A lot of time to spend in front of computer, research shows that, sitting in front of computer for a very long period of time can damage eyes.. so, love what Allah gives us, i dont want to wear eyeglass. Make my life messy.

3. What has I gained from blogging eg. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, technology skills etc.

Mostly writing skills, because in blogging what i do is just write, write and write. There are no place we can draw in blog.

4. How?

Learn on how to ekspress feelings in many ways, one of them is blogging. I ve been blogging about two years, so i have done research on what blogging is all about. I also do research on blog language.

5. what I like about the course
This course is good, it utilize my technology skills and gives many exersize to master all the skills required to b a teacher.

6. what I do not like about the course
Done have the right and concrete instruction in certain task and assignment. Sometimes task can be assignment and assignment can be task.. moreover the due date also short, we have to do lots of works within a short period of time. I also take other courses that also have task, but they consider our time and energy.

7. what I have learnt from the course
As what stated in the proforma, by the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the usage of technological resources in ESL classroom.
-Able to clssify between materials that can be used or cannot be used.
-Master internet and technological skills

8. what I do not expect but have learnt from the course
Downloading videos from Youtube
Differents between task and assignment

9. what I expect but have not learnt from the course.
No, all my expected bieng thought very well.

Thanks.

The portfolio

What is portfolio?

The word portfolio comes from a Latin word port meaning to move. The second syllable, folio, means paper or artifacts. Thus a portfolio is a moveable collection of papers and/or artifacts or samples.

Because people often move through several different careers, it makes sense for students and potential job seekers to compile and display work skills.

A portfolio is a collection in progress: which contains things related to training, work experience, contributions and special accomplishments. It helps to provide insight into life/work history, and is useful in planning for the future or gaining insights from past experiences.

taken from http://plar.humber.ca/portfolio.htm

Portfolio is a compilation of work in the semesters for a subject or course. Portfolio mainly used by artist, musician and designer where they put all their work into a files. They can refer back to the portfolio if they need to used anything inside it. We have been assigned to put all our work into potfolio, all the works since day one till the last day in our semester. There are lots of works we have done, but the problem is, i forgot where i put all those files moreover my hard disk crash a couple of days ago, the solution? go backup the data that cause me free of charge. Thanks god, i managed to recover all my data and put it in my safe place.

Software for ELT

There are various types of software for ELT class, such as smartboard, funschools, superkids and many more. Why software is important in teaching? As we all knoe, software mean a computer program that be build to enhance the computer usage and moreover it is interactive. Many schools in Malaysia equiped with pc and software provided by MOE. All these softwares were used to teach students in technology as well as basic skills in learning English. We have been given few software to try on during the class, these software are all interesting although some of them are old one and only can be used in windows 95, but after we make a little setting, it can be used in xp. Yes, the activities all are interesting for children to explore.

4 skills

The four important skills in learning English are reading, writing, listening and speaking. These skill is important to master by children. Our task for this four skills is to do 4 lesson plan for each of the skills. I have choosen to do speaking lesson plan, while other of my group members took other skills each. Planning speaking lesson plan with the integration of technology as teaching aid and activity is not an easy task. Moreover, we have a lots of pending work to do. Although the task is easy, but the workload is heavy, should be ok if given more time. Speaking task in my lesson plan based on the usage of image which i downloaded from internet. Students need to response based on the picture they seen. Next, i intergrate group work in order to make each students to participate in the speaking activity. The submition of the assignment a little bit confusing, we dont know which one to choose, at first we need to burn on cd, later we need to upload on 4 shared and at the end we need to do both plus hard copy. haha. Thats great because i have guess it earlier, so its not a shocking news.

E- book task.

E- book?
I have no idea what e- book is.
here's the sample

This is the sample of e-book from Malaysia. E-book is like a book in internet form. Its same with the book in library, but the different is, they are in the soft copy mode. Mostly ebook's format is pdf.

This week we are going to make ebook.. but using Power point presentation. Its the power point version of ebook. Power point form of e book consists of interactive elements such as animation and music.

DEFINITION - An eBook is an electronic version of a traditional print book that can be read by using a personal computer or by using an eBook reader. (An eBook reader can be a software application for use on a computer, such as Microsoft's free Reader application, or a book-sized computer that is used solely as a reading device, such as Nuvomedia's Rocket eBook.) Users can purchase an eBook on diskette or CD, but the most popular method of getting an eBook is to purchase a downloadable file of the eBook (or other reading material) from a Web site (such as Barnes and Noble) to be read from the user's computer or reading device. Generally, an eBook can be downloaded in five minutes or less.

Although it is not necessary to use a reader application or device in order to read an Ebook (most books can be read as PDF files), they are popular because they enable options similar to those of a paper book - readers can bookmark pages, make notes, highlight passages, and save selected text. In addition to these familiar possibilities, eBook readers also include built-in dictionaries, and alterable font sizes and styles. Typically, an eBook reader hand-held device weighs from about twenty-two ounces to three or four pounds and can store from four thousand to over half a million pages of text and graphics. A popular feature is its back-lit screen (which makes reading in the dark possible).

Some eBooks can be downloaded for free or at reduced cost, however, prices for many eBooks - especially bestsellers - are similar to those of hardcover books, and are sometimes higher. Most eBooks at Barnes and Noble, for example, are comparable in price to their traditional print versions.

Video editing task

Audio editing task.
we are required to edit, cut and paste the dancing t series..very interesting.
The softwares to used is just a simple move maker. although this task is simple, but there are many things to do. because the series were a lot. thanks bcz this task done in group.

The series were a lot, and it a bit messy. Moreover the shows a little bit boring, it will be great if this task gives us the choice to choose our own video to edit like the first task.

Maybe we can teach pupils how to dance in school when teacher not around.

Audio editing task

Audio editing task is the second task for us in our trip "exploring internet world". Basically, i dont have any basic knowledge about audio editing. I can produce music and play instrument, but to edit it, i dont have any idea. Firstly, searching for softwares. only freeware is Audacity. The software looks simple and very easy to use although sometimes it looked like cheap and lack of functions..but..dont judge a book by its cover. Their functions are marvelous...u can edit whatever music you want. simple to use and easy to find.thats Audacity. I choose to mix baba black sheep song with an upbeat tempo. I try to mix it with techno tune but couldt get the balance tune, try to mix with dangdut and hindustan also the same. So i checked my archieve of music in my ps, search for available tune, and i found theme song from my fav cartoon, futurama. so i mix them together and produced Babablacksheep(rockhestra mix) http://rapidshare.com/files/135712562/babablacksheep_rockhestra_mix.mp3.html

Video editing in teaching

Digital video camcorders are getting cheaper and cheaper while the video quality is getting better and better. Almost everyone I know has piles and piles of video tapes at home. Actually, it's hard to see any travellers that do not carry a video camcorder nowadays.

Yet, very, very few people make full use of their hours and hours of videos they shoot over the years!

With today's affordable video capture cards, easy-to-use digital video editing softwareand equipment , cheap and fast computer hardware, there's no reason one cannot edit his own hollywood-like videos at home and show off to friends!

Examples of video editing softwares.

Audio editing

Years ago, you would need to be in a studio and use those big, bulky and expensive machines just to record and edit music. Nowadays, anyone with the right computer can make music wherever they may be – thanks to audio editing software products.

What are audio editing softwares?

An audio editing software is a computer program used to manipulate audio files used in music sampling and recording as well as video production and post-production. It processes music the same way traditional music mixing and sound engineering have done for years. These software products enable its users to download samples from the Internet, record streaming audio, and convert files from MIDI to digital formats. They can also restore sounds from old or damaged recordings, clean up static and background noises, and cut and paste audio clips.

Picking the right audio editing software for your project

Before deciding to buy an audio editing software, figure out your purpose for buying it. Maybe you're interested in creating a soundtrack for your home movie, or perhaps you're planning on burning your favorite band's album on a CD. Knowing exactly what you need to will help you narrow down your choices.

You must also evaluate your level of knowledge regarding the use of audio editing softwares. If you are a first-time user, it is best for you to purchase a software that comes with a large number of preset effects and filters. However, if you are already knowledgeable in user applications, you may want to consider buying software products that allows for more personal manipulations and arrangements.

Audio editing and education.

As a teacher, audio editing can be beneficial for classroom pnp. Audio editing can create a enhancing learning environment where there are no simple play n stop cassete recorder audio to be brought during pnp.

photo editing technology

Various software on photo editing nowadays such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint, Paint,ACDsee and etc. There are also alternatives for these softwares which is the online photo editing page such as Photo Bucket, Flickers and etc. These online photo editing page is much easier to use but not valid if we want to edit the photo in depth.

I'm using Corel Draw since the past few month and try to manipulate its content and utilities. Since many were using Adobe and the software was the most popular in photo editing, me myself never try Adobe before. Corel I guess, much more easier and it comprises many utilities in one software, we can edit photo, draw, make animation, logo, and video.

With the new technology, teachers can manipulate resources to be use in teaching and learning activity. We are no more cut and paste original picture, but we can manipulate it to fit the needs of learning.
